Description: This beloved movie about youth stars the young singer Gurchenko and the old comic actor Ilinsky as Ogurtsov (Pickle), the fun-hating head of the House of Culture. His efforts to foil the wishes of his young charges to organize a joyous New Year’s Eve ball fail miserably. This film was classic director Eldar Riazanov’s first hit, and is still loved by Russian audiences today. In this scene, the organizers and guests try to prevent Ogurtsov and a guest lecturer from spoiling the fun by delivering the educational lecture that was obligatory for Soviet entertainments.
