On May 10 N.S. Khrushchev, chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers, received the well-known American farmer Russell Garst in the Kremlin and discussed agricultural matters with him in an informal setting. Garst was accompanied by this nephew John Chrystal, who came to Moscow with him.

N.S. Khrushchev later invited Garst and Chrystal to his dacha, where they continued their conversation, inspected his garden and agricultural crops. They then had dinner, attended by members of N.S. Khrushchev’s family, I.P. Volovchenko — USSR Minister of Agriculture, and I. E. Emel’ianov, Counselor of the Soviet Embassy in the U.S.A.
