Goodbye, Moscow (1980)

Tat’iana Antsiferova. Music: Aleksandra Pakhmutova. Lyrics: Sergei Grebennikov and Nikolai Dobronravov
Description: The very end of the closing ceremony of the Moscow Olympics featured a sentimental surprise. A huge ‘Misha’ came out to the center of the stadium holding a bundle of balloons of different colors. Waving a goodbye with his paw, he rose high above the stadium and faded in the sky. At that moment, the sentimental atmosphere was heightened by the song ‘Goodbye, Moscow!’ written by the composer Alexandra Pakhmutova and the poet Nikolay Dobronravov specially for the ceremony.
