Seizure of the Synod's Building and Funds

{Voronezh, February 6, 1918}

On February 11, a representative of the Commissariat of the Interior ... appeared at the building of the Synod and demanded ... the surrender of the building and all capital belonging to the Synod. The vice-director of the Synod ... objected ... but the representative of the Commissariat was supported by the junior clerks and messengers. The vice-director then announced that he submitted to force, led the representative of the Commissariat to the Synod treasury, and handed over forty-eight and one-half million rubles ... The same day the offices of the former Minister of Religious Cults were seized.
