Description: After Lake Ladoga froze during the fall of 1941, Soviets constructed a 'Road of Life' that linked blockaded Leningrad to Soviet-held territory on the opposite shore. Food, medicine and other supplies were delivered to Leningrad over the Road of Life by car, truck and railroad. Over 500,000 Leningraders were evacuated out of the city along this ice road during the winter months of 1941-42.
