Description: Tarkovsky's adaptation transformed the Stanislaw Lem science fiction novel into a psychological drama. While the novel concerned the problem of communicating with a different life form, the film is more concerned with such themes as death, identity, love and humanity. It features psychologist Kris Kelvin's relationship with his dead wife, whom he encounters as a simulacrum created by the mysterious planet Solaris.
