Vladimir Vysotsky Music

Vladimir Vysotsky died on July 25, 1980, and the loss reverberated across Soviet society. The three songs here trace an arc from his own voice to the voices that mourned him. "Wolf Hunt" gave listeners a coded language for entrapment that official culture could never provide; the tributes by fellow bards Yuri Vizbor and Veronika Dolina measured what his absence meant.
