Description: Grazhdanskoe oborona (“Civil Defense”) composed this song as an ironic description of the life and thoughts of the average Liuber and their basement weight lifting gyms. Liubers, however, took the song as their unofficial anthem. Journalists such as Ogonek’s Vladimir Iakovlev published its dark lyrics as a statement of a Liubers program that became broadly cited, and the center of overwrought public discussion.
