Tusovka: the Songs

The Soviet rock underground had its own word for the scene: tusovka — the gathering, the crowd, the tribe. Bands like DDT, Kino, Televizor, and Alisa gave it a soundtrack that ranged from the ominous quiet of "Don't Shoot" (1982) and the existential drift of "The Last Hero" (1984) to the raw confrontation of "Red on Black" and "Your Dad is a Fascist" (both 1987). This was music that said out loud what millions already knew.
